As well as manufacturing and distributing pumps, Wilo takes its responsibilities in providing training and information increasingly seriously.
It has recently opened its new, extended training academy at Burton, which is used to train staff members for merchants, contractors, installers and customers - including housing associations – with hands on training.
The new academy has a wide range of Wilo pumps actually installed around the training area so those being trained can get the latest theoretical information using state of the art training media but perhaps more importantly literally get to grips with the pumps themselves, on working pipe circuits, learning how to use them and the effects they have on heating circuits.
As Training manager Gary Wheatley says: “It’s much more valuable for those attending our training sessions to get hands on experience of working with our products – rather than just looking at them or watching me operating them. We have always had a hands on approach to training and we know from feedback from people attending that this is really valued”.
In addition to the courses that run regularly a Burton, Wilo has developed a programme of CPD units – Continuing Professional Development presentations – that are again increasing in popularity with architects and specifiers around the country. The three subjects currently covered include ‘the benefits of high efficiency pumping’, ‘a guide to rainwater harvesting systems’ and ‘surge protection - designing out hydraulic shock’.
Wilo gives these at Burton, at exhibitions around the country and happily on the premises of architectural practices and building designers and professionals who have a number of team members who will benefit from these.
For more information or to organise one of these, visit the Wilo website at www.wilo.co.uk, or call 01283 523000 and ask to speak to the CPD Administrator.
