Water harvesting systems
Water harvesting systems are built into new properties or fitted to existing houses to collect and capitalise on rainfall. By preventing rainwater waste, they create opportunities for water re-use for homes and businesses, while safeguarding supplies ahead of water shortages or hosepipe bans. Read More
For residential property development, water management systems catch rainwater from roofs and hard surfaces. The water is stored in a collection tank, or pumped to a separate header tank, and can be drawn for a range of non-potable uses, like flushing toilets, watering gardens, washing clothes or cleaning cars.
Similarly, grey water systems recycle bath, shower, kitchen sink and washbasin water for re-use in toilet flushing or gardening.
For commercial / public buildings , which have a larger capacity for capture, collection and storage, and use more water, rainwater recycling is doubly effective. These applications include garden centres and nurseries, which can make particular use of recycled water for irrigation.

SDS GWOD (Greywater on Demand) is a fully automated system that delivers a consistent supply of treated greywater to meet a site's required daily volume. Greywater recycling can reduce mains water consumption by up to 40%. Installing a greywater system is a great alternative to traditional sustainable measures, offering an effective solution withCommercial and domestic water harvesting systems
Marshalls Civils & Drainage have different types of precast rainwater harvesting systems for both domestic and commercial schemes. The systems work by collecting rainwater from roofs and occasionally hard standing areas, which are usually gravity fed though a cleaning filter into the Oasis chamber via calmed inlet. It is then pumped through aPrecast concrete rainwater harvesting chambers
Rainwater Harvesting Chambers are bespoke precast concrete storage units designed for use in rainwater harvesting systems. They support environmental water management by collecting filtered rainwater, typically from rooftops, for reuse in residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural settings. The chamber complies with Environment AgencyIntellistorm® system for water reuse on residential schemes
SDS’s WaterBank® Intellistorm® rain and grey water recycling system enables a site to maximise rainwater reuse and minimise discharge to drain, operating entirely under its own control. SDS WaterBank® Intellistorm® systems integrate stormwater attenuation and rainwater harvesting to maximise the capacity for water reuse and minimise the risk of flooding. Live weather data is used to facilitate the autonomous control of water retention and reuse based on expected rainfallDomestic smart rainwater recycling systems - Wrea Green
SDS installed 50 Intellistorm® smart water butts across Wrea Green, a village in Lancashire, with a further 35 planned, each equipped with sensors and SDS SYMBiotIC™ monitoring and reporting software. The village is home to the UK’s single largest deployment of domestic smart rainwater recycling systems. SDS rainwater harvesting systems are providing water security for 20 business premises on the Isles of Scilly by addressing a shortage of mains-supplied drinking-quality water. The brief from the Council of the Isles of Scilly was to replace as much of businesses’ non-potable water consumption as possible with recycled rainwaterResidential rainwater harvesting counters CSO spills
SDS WaterBank® Intellistorm® rainwater management system and SDS SYMBiotIC™ were used in a South West Water pilot project to establish whether residential smart rainwater storage tanks could ease headroom issues in a combined sewer network. SDS delivered a smart rainwater harvesting system that repurposed an existing attenuation tank already installed at Plymouth Argyle Football Club's Home Park stadium. The club aimed to enhance its environmental performance at the stadium by reducing mains water use and improving rainwater management. The goal was to capture and reuse rainwater forSmart rainwater recycling system for residential properties
SDS partnered with Southern Water to deploy its Intellistorm® smart rainwater recycling system at residential properties in Deal, Kent, significantly reducing surface water flooding. Community engagement was strong, with nearly half of homeowners opting to participate. SDS was required to deliver a bespoke greywater recycling system for 80 luxury apartments at 80 Holland Park in West London. The system would enable wastewater from basins, showers and baths to be treated and used throughout the building, allowing the development to achieve a water efficiency criteria of 100 litres maximum mains water consumption per person per dayIntellistorm® system manages stormwater at school in Lancashire
In a demonstration of advanced water management, the Intellistorm® smart water management system, developed by SDS, has showcased its capability to handle significant rainfall events. Deployed at a school in Lancashire, the system effectively managed stormwater over a rainy period, reducing the load on local sewer systems. The Intellistorm® system
