Frese SIGMA dynamic balancing valves
In summer 2012, the Olympic and Paralympic Games took place in London where athletes and officials were accommodated in the amazing new Athletes Village.
Athletes Village is a unique project, and not just because of its vast scale. As well as being designed by some of the best architects in the world, its buildings, interiors and landscaping are of the highest standard.
Built in Stratford, East London, Athletes Village was a mixture of accommodation and community amenities. After the Games, the Village was transformed into residential accommodation as part of the ongoing regeneration of the area.
Frese were contracted to supply two Frese S valves for each of the 2,818 new apartments in the village.
Frese S valves were installed to limit design flow and bypass flow through ELSON heat interface units (HIU's), which provide heating and domestic hot water, generated from a district heating scheme.
The valves ensure preset flow is delivered irrespective of fluctuating differential pressures, eliminating overflows and thus ensuring optimum pump efficiency. A major benefit is that there is no time consuming proportional balancing to be done and the commissioning process becomes significantly faster and easier.
Frese valves were specified by leading consultancy practice, Hilson Moran Partnership.
