AmbiRad, now a Reznor brand, successfully completed a challenging heating project for drive technology manufacturing company, SEW Eurodrive, based in Normanton.

Requirement

SEW Eurodrive was looking to relocate to a new purpose-built facility to service the increasing demands of its customers. The brand new building required the most efficient radiant heating system possible, to keep running costs to a minimum. The facility required blanket radiant heat coverage with the ability to be specifically zoned to the production process layout.

Solution

The Nor-Ray-Vac radiant tube heating system was selected as the ideal solution. It warms up rapidly but does not waste energy when heating the volume of air in the building. Employees in the workshop feel warm, while comfortable temperatures are maintained with the heat being evenly distributed. Relatively little fuel is consumed, meaning that the system remains economical.

The new workshop area, which is over 7500m2, holds over £2.5m worth of components ready for assembly, 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. The space is self-cooling, naturally ventilated and lit by automatic sensor-controlled lighting. Additional electricity is provided by roof-mounted 50k/VA photovoltaic cells, while solar panels help with hot water and an air source heat pump provides underfloor heating.

Outcome

The Nor-Ray-Vac continuous radiant heating system is a key part of a modern and eco-friendly environment at the new assembly plant building.
