Chilled beams and ceilings
Chilled beams and ceilings are a type of convection HVAC system suitable for use in large buildings. They can provide both heating and cooling. Read More
Passive chilled beams rely solely on convection, while the active type , also known as induction diffusers, are connected to ducts to push supply air to the unit, increasing the heating and cooling capacity.
Multi-service chilled beams (MSCBs), or integrated service modules (ISMs), are designed to incorporate features such as fire sprinklers, lighting, ventilation and public address systems into the unit.
Integrating several services in one unit means that space can be saved, which is particularly beneficial in projects with a limited floor-to-slab height. Responsibility for the design, supply and integration of services rests with one supplier, which can also be an advantage to specifiers and building contractors.
