The challenges

As the barn shares the building with the annex, the customers didn’t want to intrude on holidaymakers in the annex with excess noise from the soil system.

Ease of installation was another key priority as the customer had hired their own plumber who was not 100% familiar with Wavin products.

The customer had an eye for design and wanted a clean aesthetic look and feel to the barn conversion.

This meant that Wavin Comfia under floor heating was installed throughout the property, as radiators can encroach on a clean aesthetic and take up valuable space.

The solution

Wavin AS+ provided the solution to noisy pipes with a sound-insulating Soil & Waste piping system, suitable for drainage of hot and cold waste water.

Wavin AS+ is used where there is a requirement for silent operations and with the annex being attached to the home, disruption from both owners and holiday makers needed to be minimised.

Unique to Wavin, the SoundCheck Tool simulates the system acoustics of your installation and calculates noise levels based on individual parameters.

The use of Wavin Tigris K5/M5 solved many of the customers plumbing problems.

The Tigris K5/M5 provides easy leak detection with an acoustic leak alert, the only type on the market.

Air-pressure testing was advantageous to this project as the hot and cold feeds did not have to be filled with water and potentially left for a long time with water still in the pipes. This reduced the risk of water becoming stagnant or freezing during cold spells.
