ISG, Axima, Gardners
Designed by Foster and Partners, the 100,000m2 Bishops Square development houses the headquarters of international law firm Allen & Overy. The building comprises around 71,900 sq m of offices and 4,000 sq m (43,000 sq ft) of retail space.
The terminal air conditioning system was required to meet the highest standards and all participants in the project were expected to deliver on time and to specification.
Over 3500 fan coil units plus associated diffusers were supplied by TROX in a contract worth more than £1.5 million.
The design team particularly liked the single-point responsibility TROX provided, together with performance guarantees.
Following successful mock-up tests in TROX's technical laboratories, the equipment was supplied for installation.
The consultant was Hilson Moran, and the contractors were ISG, Axima for the fan coils and Gardners for the grilles and diffusers.
Once installed, the systems were commissioned and all units met the data in the the exacting specification.
The building is fitted with devices that help Allen & Overy be as environmentally efficient as possible. As well as generating power from roof panels - saving more than 23 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions a year - heat reclamation from the air conditioning system diverts waste heat and uses it to heat the air in the building.
